Dr. Jeremy Holloway, Research Professor at New Mexico Highlands University and nationally recognized health equity advocate, will serve as both keynote speaker and workshop presenter at the 4th Annual South Dakota Community Health Worker Conference. This year’s conference will be held at the Highland Event Center in Mitchell, South Dakota from April 23–24, 2025.

Dr. Holloway is the founder of Tellegacy, an award-winning intergenerational program aimed at reducing social isolation among older adults while equipping younger generations with leadership and empathy skills. His work integrates behavioral health, storytelling, and the Social Determinants of Health, creating spaces for healing across systems and identities.

Topic: Cross-Cultural Communication in the Healthcare Workplace

Later that afternoon, Dr. Holloway will lead an intimate workshop on “SDOH & What Matters”, where participants will learn how to integrate person-centered care conversations into daily practice. Through the lens of behavioral health and intergenerational storytelling, the session will challenge professionals to ask not just what’s the matter, but what matters most.

The workshop will highlight:

  • Key SDOH factors that shape patient experience
  • Strategies to engage in meaningful “What Matters” conversations
  • Tools to elevate trust and improve care coordination

This session is part of the Breakout Session 1 offerings and will run concurrently with other topic-specific workshops.
